Meet Heather Asling (Academic Portfolio Administrator)

Heather joined the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in December 2015 as the Academic Portfolio Administrator for Janet Shuh and has been working for Sheridan as a part-time Professor in the Faculty of Business, teaching in the Executive Office Administration stream for the past year. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Toronto, in English Literature and IT communications. She has also attended Sheridan as a student completing the CCIT program as well as two levels of the CGA program. Heather has spent time working in various levels of government and the healthcare field in Ontario and British Columbia, all the while continuously being drawn back to academia. A life-long student, Heather is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Policy (Administration and Law) as well as a concurrent Diploma in Justice Administration. Heather is also a Royal Conservatory of Music teacher who enjoys traveling, living in the country, family and life’s many simple pleasures.

Moment in my life I’d like to re-live: Being lost in the highlands of Scotland.

My idea of perfect happiness: Sun, sand, the ocean and a palm tree umbrella.

In my opinion the secret to success is: Being appreciative of the opportunities you are given.

Language I’d love to be able to speak: Punjabi — and I am learning it.
