Patsy Marshall’s Students Explore Creativity and Employment
Patsy Marshall’s “Introduction to Studies in Creativity” course this semester took a novel approach for student reflections.
The course provided students with four infographics, along with other SLATE material, so that students could complete 4 journal logs reflecting on issues related to creativity (one for each infographic topic, based on course curriculum).
As an example, Infographic 3 to correspond with journal log 3, emphasized the importance of creativity for employers. Students were then asked to discuss 10 reasons why employers are seeking Sheridan graduates who display/possess creativity and to comment on 5 statistics within the infographic as to whether they were surprising, or not.
The infographics and journals may be of use to other teachers and students exploring the value of creativity in the careers marketplace. Student samples, shared with permission, can be downloaded here:why-is-creativity-important-to-employers
