Prof. Owen Percy’s new book chapter

Prof. Owen Percy will have a chapter included in an upcoming academic anthology about celebrity and the arts in Canada, published by Wilfrid Laurier University Press. The anthology, Celebrity Cultures in Canada, will include essays from scholars working in various disciplines about the phenomenon of celebrity in sports, politics, and the arts within the unique and often state-sponsored national Canadian imaginary. You can read more about the anthology, which is currently in press, here. Owen’s chapter, an essay entitled “Re: Focusing (on) Celebrity: Canada’s Major Poetry Prizes,” explores the role that literary awards play in fostering and perpetuating notions of celebrity in the small, notably un-celebrated and un-glamourous world of Canadian poetry.
