Dear colleagues,
Fall 2024 brought profound challenges to the post-secondary sector in Canada, especially for colleges and polytechnics in Ontario. In the midst of some disappointments and uncertainties, however, FHASS faculty and staff amaze and move me with their strength of character and dedication to our shared mission, as these pages testify. Read on for inspiration from your colleagues in CW&P, which has reached new milestones; several research projects and newly-launched electives; community-building in ESL; examples of student art and assessment innovation; and introductions to new colleagues. As we weather these changes together, I’m fortified by the knowledge that our work, cultivating liberal arts skills in a world sorely in need of them, matters now more than ever.
