Mahak Jain publishes The Only Astronaut

Professor Mahak Jain (FHASS, CW&P) has published her third book for children, The Only Astronaut, with Kids Can Press. The book is illustrated by Andrea Stegmaier and has also been translated to Portuguese (Brazil) and German.

The Only Astronaut is about a girl who loves solo space travel but learns that having a partner can be even better. The Canadian Review of Materials praised the book for its “important themes for this age group, including friendship, failure as part of the learning process, and persistence.”

The Only Astronaut will be featured this summer in the TD Summer Reading Club, a bilingual program available to all children in Canadian libraries that last year attracted 685,000 young readers from 12 provinces and territories through the participation of over 2,200 libraries. 

Professor Mahak Jain recently presented the book at the FOLD Kids Book Fest and the Ontario Library Association’s Super Conference as well. She will next present it at the Frye Festival, Atlantic Canada’s largest literary program.
