Reminder: VOICES OF SOUTH ASIA comes to Sheridan!
Save the date! Voices of South Asia will take place on May 25th from 6-9pm at Sheridan’s Davis campus. The event, which is the first of its kind at Sheridan, will celebrate South Asian achievements in Canada and feature a series of speakers and artistic performances. Among the speakers will be Dr. Kamal Al-Solaylee, a professor from Ryerson whose book Brown: What Being Brown in the World Today Means (to Everyone) was recently nominated for the Governor-General’s award; broadcaster Piya Chattopadhyay, the host of CBC Radio’s Out in the Open; and Dr. Vicki Bismilla, an educator, human rights advocate, former VP Academic of Centennial College and author of Indentured: A Labourer’s Journey. The evening will also include a bhangra dance performance and a musical performance by Shobhit Banwait, a Sheridan graduate and a very talented tabla player.
