Poet Voice Episode 14: How to end a poem

In this final(!) episode of Poet Voice, I reflect on my time as CW&P Writer-in-Residence, expressing gratitude to CW&P faculty, students, and Ampersand Review team for making my residency so special. I share that I’ll be sticking around a little this summer, teaching the second half of Professor Vermeersch’s Poetry & Poetics class.

I recap the Ampersand Review’s Poetry Salon where I read new work alongside Farah Ghafoor and Terese Mason Pierre. Taking inspiration from Terese’s comments on how she ends a poem, I discuss endings of my own poems, and read selections from Emily Skaja’s LitHub article, “50 Ways to End a Poem.”

I read John Keene’s poem “Gift” from his book of new and selected poems, Punks as a final offering.

.

Thank you to Owen, Paul, Tali, Glenn, all the professors who invited me to their classrooms, the Ampersand Review interns, and all the students who came to office hours and shared your work with me. Serving as CW&P Writer-in-Residence is truly the highlight of my career, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
