Drs. Pulis and Cumming hit the beach
Prof. Sara Cumming (Sociology) and Jessica Pulis (Criminology) from the Department of Social and Life Sciences just returned from a four day conference in Long Beach, California. The two presented a paper co-written by Prof. Michael McNamara (Creativity) and their research assistant with the Community Ideas Factory project, Fiona Purkiss, at the 89th Annual Meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association conference.
The paper, which is currently under review with the Journal of Hunger and Environmental Nutrition, provides an overview of the research done with food insecure residents of Oakville. The findings give us insight into the long reaching consequences of food insecurity and shed light on the inequities that persist within very wealthy communities.
