Meet Andrew Staples (GAS Student Advisor)
Andrew Staples joined FHASS in September 2015 as part of the Embedded Student Advisor pilot project in partnership with Student Advisement. After being an integral part of Student Advisement and the HMC community for 4 years, Andrew is excited to be the dedicated advisor for students in the GAS programs. Andrew’s passion for holistic and developmental advising has introduced pre-orientation advising sessions to help transition GAS students to Sheridan and has developed a one-stop online virtual community portal to maximize timely communication to students. Andrew is an active member in the Sheridan community and recently received Bronze for the 2016 President’s Creative Challenge for installing a community garden at the Trafalgar Campus.After completing his BBA (Marketing) at Brock University, Andrew worked for the City of Hamilton’s tourism department before moving to South Korea to teach English for two years. He joined Sheridan in 2011. Andrew completed his MA (Intercultural and International Communications) through Royal Roads University in 2015, and enjoyed the opportunity to teach “Exploring Your Global Village” at Sheridan in 2016. Andrew is also a certified ski instructor.
Andrew enjoys gardening, traveling (35 countries and counting!), playing badminton, following baseball statistics and spending time at the cottage. Fun fact: In 2010, Andrew was featured in a 20 minute documentary on KBS (Korean Broadcasting Station).

My favourite food/meal and drink: Something fresh, local, and homemade, with a pint of Granville Island Lions Winter Ale.
My favourite singer/musician: Noel Gallagher.
My guilty gaming pleasure: Magic: The Gathering (card game).
