Cole and Stasiuk present…

Professors Christina Cole and Barbara Stasiuk presented a two-hour workshop titled, “Building Resiliency Through Technology” at TESL Ontario’s annual conference held at The Metro Toronto Convention Centre, October 18th 2014. The workshop identified relevant pedagogical theories such as how the Communities of Practice model helps teachers build up their technological skills. They also explored issues of teacher identity and technology by debunking the commonly held myth of the digital native vs. the digital immigrant, showcased how we can utilize podcasts, Ted Talks, wikis, discussion boards, online classrooms and many other tools at Sheridan, and then had participants do hands-on activities. The session was fully enrolled and teachers appreciated the mix of theory and practice.
