The Honours Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing was tickled pink to host a celebration on Nov. 12 of two recent publications by faculty members. Poet, critic, and Professor of Publishing Paul Vermeersch launched his most recent, and critically acclaimed book of poems, Self-Defence for the Brave and Happy (ECW) this fall, and Professor of Creative Writing Thea Lim‘s novel An Ocean of Minutes –bolstered by its nomination to the 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlist–continued to ride the wave of success born at its launch in June 2018.

Paul and Thea read from their respective works before sitting down with an on-stage interview with 2nd-year CW&P student Brianna Wodabek, an Editorial Assistant at Mosaic Publishing in Oakville. The event was followed by an eventually lively Q&A and book signing, where CW&P students and members of the public got the chance to engage with our literary stars outside of a classroom setting. Keep your eyes peeled for more events like this in the future, and particularly for Sheridan Reads 2019, which is currently in the planning stages.
